Gary Hutch extradited from Amsterdam in connection with fatal armed raid in Dublin
A 33-year-old man has appeared in court having been extradited from Amsterdam in connection with a fatal armed raid on a cash in transit van in west Dublin.
Gary Hutch of Drumalee Avenue, North Circular Road is due to stand trial on charges of attempted robbery and possession of a firearm at Foxborough Road, Lucan in May 2009.
Gardaí believe he has been living in Holland for the past two years under an assumed identity.
He was tracked down in The Netherlands two weeks ago and was extradited on foot of a European arrest Warrant.
Det Garda Padraig Jennings gave evidence that he was detained at Dublin airport at 2.30pm today.
The 33-year-old is alleged to have taken part in an attempted robbery on a Securicor van in Lucan on May 15, 2009.
One of the raiders, Garreth Molloy, was fatally wounded during a shoot-out with gardaí.
Judge Sarah Berkeley remanded Gary Hutch in custody to appear in court again on October 8.
