Woman dies after stabbing at Waterford psychiatric hospital

A woman in her 40s has died following a stabbing at a psychiatric hospital in Waterford city this evening.

The attack happened on the grounds of St. Otteran’s at around 7pm.

A man, thought to be in his 50s, has been arrested and is being questioned at Waterford Garda Station.

The scene remains sealed off this evening while Gardaí carry out a technical examination, and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
