Four teenage girls are being treated in hospital this morning after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda, Co Louth yesterday afternoon.

Four teenage girls are being treated in hospital this morning after an aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda, Co Louth yesterday afternoon.

The girls, aged between 12 and 14, were in a house in the Marian Park area at 4.20pm when the explosion occurred.

Emergency services attended the scene and the injured were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Two of the teenagers were transferred to Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin last night for specialist treatment for burns while the other two girls remain in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Structural damage was caused to the house.
