Gardaí are appealing to motorists to be extra careful on the countries roads following heavy rainfall overnight.

Gardaí are appealing to motorists to be extra careful on the countries roads following heavy rainfall overnight.

Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings over parts of the country with some flooding reported in parts of Dublin.

Gardaí are also advising drivers in the rest of the country to exercise extreme caution with road conditions described as treacherous in many parts due to adverse weather conditions.

The railway line is closed between Greystones and Dún Laoghaire due to flooding causing some disruption to DART services and some bus routes around Santry are being diverted as well.
