Israeli embassy removes controversial image posted to Twitter

The Israeli Embassy in Dublin has removed a controversial image of the Molly Malone statue in a niqab from its social media accounts.

The phrase 'Israel now Dublin next' was placed on the doctored image, which prompted a storm of criticism from social media users.

It was part of a series of photos uploaded to the social media sites of the embassy.

The Mona Lisa was pictured wearing a niqab with a rocket.

Michaelangelo’s David was portrayed as a suicide bomber and the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen was shown with a gun.
