Former Mayor of Limerick Long concedes seat is gone

By Jimmy Woulfe, Irish Examiner Mid-West Correspondent

Outgoing chairman of the disbanded Limerick County Council, John Sheahan may be a victim of geography in the local elections.

His Glin base just falls into the Newcastle West electoral district (six seats), cutting him off from much of his traditional hinterland, which is now in the Adare-Rathkale area (six seats).

Mr Sheahan looks as though he will be in a tussle for the final sixth seat.

Meanwhile, Jim Long, Fine Gael, a former Mayor of Limerick has conceded that his seat is gone.
