Members of the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA) at Irish Rail have voted to accept the Labour Court recommendations on a cost saving plan.

The union accepted the plan by a margin of 72% to 28%.

Irish Rail has welcomed the result and is now awaiting the outcome of the other unions' ballots before commenting further.

Earlier, Siptu staff voted to reject the recommendations and its 1,700 members will be balloted on strike action.

The company wants to change the worker's terms and conditions in a bid to save €8.7m this year.
