Hogan: Don't worry - decision due on Water Charges

The Government's proposals for Water Charges are to be published before next month's elections.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny earlier dismissed claims that he is holding back the full details of the charges until after the Local and European Elections.

It follows newspaper reports that consumers may face a €100 standing charge, before a tap is turned.

However, Environment Minister Phil Hogan told Midwest Radio that no decision has yet been made on a pricing structure for the charges.

"Well, they don't have to get any bill until next January," he said.

"So they've plenty of time before they'll have to know fully what it will be involved (sic).

"It'll be also down to what they use in water will dictate what they will pay.

"So don't worry - decisions will be made in time."
