Twenty-seven thousand secondary school teachers will start to withdraw some services in schools early next month in industrial action over changes to the Junior Cert.

Some 88% of members from the ASTI and the TUI voted for the action in reaction to plans by the Education Minister Ruairi Quinn to replace the Junior Cert with a new programme.
