€3m in funding has been announced by the Government to help communities affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

More than 14 million people were affected by the typhoon which struck in November 2013.

The Minister for Trade and Development Joe Costello made the announcement - which will support local efforts to build shelters and re-establish people’s livelihoods in fishing and agriculture - during a visit to Tacloban today.

Irish Government funding to support victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines has reached over 7 million euro.
