SIPTU to 'fully comply' with High Court order preventing airports strike

SIPTU has said it will fully comply with a High Court order preventing strike action at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports on Friday.

However the union, which was threatening a four-hour work stoppage, said the pensions dispute is not resolved.

Workers at Aer Lingus and the Dublin Airport Authority wanted industrial action due to a "significant deficit" in their pension scheme.

Paul O'Kane from the DAA said their only aim was to keep the airports open ahead of the busy St Patrick's weekend.

"We went to court as a last resort on the basis that the ballot was unlawful (as) certain section of our workers have a no-strike clause (in their contracts). We had to go to court as a last resort," he said.
