Cyclist Stephen Roche is the Grand Marshal of the 2014 St. Patrick’s Festival Parade.
He was chosen by Festival organisers for his outstanding contribution to the sport of cycling.
The Dubliner will lead the Festival Parade on its 2.6 kilometre route through the capital on Monday, March 17.
"You often hear about the Patrick's Day Grand Marshal, and you'd say: isn't he a lucky guy, and what's he done to be there?," Roche said following the announcement.
"And then you realise that it's always very important people, who have always achieved something great.
"It's very flattering, and I'm extremely proud to be the Marshal this year."
