Quinn: Whistleblower investigation will cover latest allegations

The Senior Counsel appointed to probe Garda whistleblower allegations will examine new claims made by a female member of the force, according to the Minister for Education.

The Senior Counsel appointed to probe Garda whistleblower allegations will examine new claims made by a female member of the force, according to the Minister for Education.

It comes after Fianna Fáil's John McGuinness claimed the Garda told him she was warned by the Confidential Recipient that the last person to use the service was now "washing cars in Navan".

Deputy McGuinness wants Oliver Connolly to be recalled to face further questions.

Education Minister Ruairí Quinn said the claim will be one of many to be considered by the Senior Counsel.

"Any claim ... will in fact be explored in detail," he said. "If he comes to the conclusion hat there are grounds for a full public inquiry, then that's what will happen."
