Man arrested after armed robbery at Drumcondra shop

A man has been arrested following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Drumcondra in Dublin this afternoon.

At approximately 4.30pm a man entered the store on Botanic Avenue and threatened staff with a firearm.

He made his escape with a sum of money in the direction of Drumcondra Road Lower.

Passing gardaí who were made aware of the incident, spotted the youth and gave chase on foot.

Following a lengthy chase the man was arrested on Drumcondra Road. He is being detained in Mountjoy garda station.

A sum of money along with what is believed to be an imitation firearm was recovered when the juvenile was arrested.
