Risk of flooding lower on coming days, but still a risk

The National Coordination group said the risk of tidal flooding will recede in coming days.

It is partly due to the fact that seasonal high tides have passed.

However, the group, which met in the National Emergency Coordination Centre today, said heavy rainfall will top up the already near capacity of rivers, posing a risk of them flooding.

The Shannon, Barrow, Nore and Slaney are reported to be at very high levels.

Met Eireann is forecasting very wet and windy weather tomorrow night and early on Saturday, with a yellow wind warning in place for eastern coastal counties, as well as Cork and Kerry.
