Today will see the opening of Ireland's first facility for the manufacture of stem cells for human use.

It has been developed by researchers at NUI Galway and will be opened by the Minister of State for Research and Innovation Sean Sherlock.

The adult stem cells developed there will be used to tackle health conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
