Man to appear in court in relation to Sligo armed siege

A 30-year-old man will appear in court in Sligo this morning charged in relation to an incident over the weekend in which he barricaded himself into a house with a firearm.

The man was arrested at a house on the Strandhill Road on Saturday afternoon at around 1.30pm following a thirteen hour gun siege.

Special units including trained negotiators attended the scene, and nobody was injured.

The man will appear at a special sitting of Sligo District Court at 10:30am this morning.
