Westmeath woman dies from tree fall in high winds

A 23 year-old woman has died after a tree fell on her car in Ireland.

It happened during high winds on the Balllymahon Road near the Greenpark Meadow Housing Estate, near Mullingar in County Westmeath, at about 4.05pm.

The injured woman was taken to Mullingar General Hospital by Ambulance and was pronounced dead at 5.30pm this evening.

Met Eireann have issued warnings of gusts of up to 90 miles per hour in exposed areas.
