Gunman hijacks woman's car outside shop in Laois

An investigation has been launched into the armed hijacking of a woman's car in County Laois last night.

The 31-year-old woman was sitting in her Toyota Corolla outside a shop in Ballylinan at about 9.10pm when the incident happened.

The masked gunman approached the vehicle and threatened the woman with a shotgun before stealing the car which was later found on fire.

The woman is said to be shaken but did not suffer any physical injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for information.
