Criminal Assets Bureau asks High Court to strike out Gilligan application

The Criminal Assets Bureau claims a legal action by drug trafficker John Gilligan to get back his show jumping arena in Co Kildare is an abuse of process.

CAB is asking the High Court to strike out the latest set of proceedings issued by the Gilligan family in their fight to get back Jessbrook, which is in the process of being sold.

The 61-year-old gang leader claims his assets were frozen in the 1990s without a fair hearing.

CAB’s lawyers say there has been an inordinate delay of 16 years in bringing the case and that a separate appeal over the Gilligan's seized assets remains live.
