Ireland's top tourism town to be crowned

Ireland's top tourism town will be crowned later today.

The 2013 Fáilte Ireland Tourism Towns awards will be presented to small and large towns across Ireland who offer the best all round experience to tourists visiting their area.

Ten towns around the country have been shortlisted for the top accolade-which is now in its second year-including Cobh in Cork, Drogheda in Co. Louth, Ennis in Clare along with Kenmare and Tralee in Kerry, Kilkenny Town and Letterkenny in Co. Donegal along with Mulranny, Murrisk and Westport in Co. Mayo.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in the Gibson Hotel in Dublin this lunchtime.

Beverly Sherwood, Project Manager of the Tourism Towns awards, outlines some of the main points judges have been looking for.
