Fianna Fáil accuse government of targeting elderly in cutbacks

Fianna Fáil is accusing the Government of an unfair campaign of targeting the elderly for cutbacks.
It comes after a parliamentary question by Laois-Offaly TD Barry Cowen revealed that the number of grants paid out for the Housing Aid for the Older Persons Scheme has fallen from over 7,000 in 2010 to just over 1,700 in 2013.
Fianna Fáil said that is another "savage" cut to services for older people - and comes after cuts to home help services and medical cards for the elderly.
