Gardaí have confirmed a body found in Wexford yesterday is that of missing Stacia Purcell.

The 66 year old woman had been missing from the New Ross area for over a week.

Yesterday afternoon at around 2pm a woman's body was found in a tributary of the River Barrow near New Ross.

Gardaí sealed off the scene and removed the remains to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem examination was carried out.

They confirmed earlier that the body was that of missing woman Stacia Purcell.

The 66 year-old had been missing for over a week after she went for a walk on the night of the 30th of October.
