The CEO of TV3 has said that he will not be opposing UTV's bid for a licence to broadcast in Ireland.

The CEO of TV3 has said that he will not be opposing UTV's bid for a licence to broadcast in Ireland.

The British broadcaster has applied to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland to launch a new Irish TV channel which would see the creation 100 new jobs.

The company has also signed an agreement which will give them the exclusive broadcasting rights for ITV programmes in Ireland, such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale from early 2015.

David McRedmond said that ratings for these programmes has fallen and that it will not damage their viewing figures.
