From today the three Dublin maternity hospitals will be completely smoke and tobacco-free.

In line with HSE policy, tobacco is now banned from all areas of the Coombe, the Rotunda and Holles Street hospitals, including buildings, entrances, doorways and car parks.

All smoking shelters will be dismantled or converted and cigarette bins will be removed from the hospitals.

Cavan General Hospital and Monaghan Hospital have also become smoke-free today.
