Higgins trade efforts move on to Costa Rica
President Michael D Higgins will arrive in Costa Rica tonight where he will continue trade meetings with the business community and the President of Costa Rica.
He is moving to the final part of his eleven day official trip to South America. He described the last few days in El Salvador as moving and emotional.
The President spent much of his early political career highlighting the human rights abuses meted out by the ruling military government in EL Salvador.
While he was here he met with survivors of its civil war and visited memorial sites of the many slain friends he had come to know through his work.
He will also make a key note speech to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and hopes establish firm bi-lateral economic cooperation.
