The National Standards Authority of Ireland is urging people buying fancy dress costumes, to check for safety labels and standards.

The organisation has said that labels on Halloween costumes, such as the CE mark and the flame resistant label - show that the manufacturer has complied with national and international standards.

The CEO of the NSAI, Maurice Buckley, said that all Halloween props, such as masks, pitchforks and brooms, should also have a visible CE markings:
