Over 4,000 calls to 24-hour helpline for victims of sexual abuse

Over 4,000 victims of rape and sexual abuse (4,046) made contact with a 24 hour helpline for the first time last year.
The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre operates the helpline with support from Cosc, the National Office for the prevention of Domestic, Sexual and Gender based violence.
The figures have been released to coincide with World Mental Health Day.
