LRC invite leads to hopes of halt to doctors' strike
There is hope of a possible breakthrough in the junior doctors strike, as they consider re-entering talks with the HSE.
The IMO is meeting today to consider an invitation to talks at the Labour Relations Commission to try to avoid further disruption, after around 15,000 patients were affected by yesterday's strike.
Junior doctors have also received a letter from the HSE, which accepts the need for financial sanctions to prevent them having to work dangerously long hours.
Stephen McMahon from the Irish Patients Association said the cost of those sanctions should not be passed on to patients.
