Sister confirms 'Fair City' actor's body found on Dollymount Strand

It has been confirmed by the family of Fair City actor Gerry McCann that the body found on Dollymount Beach yesterday was his.

The father of two's body was found yesterday morning on the beach by a member of the public.

The 47-year-old was last seen in Stillorgan last Thursday morning, and it is believed he went to the Ballsbridge area.

Mr McCann's sister Helene O'Cleary confirmed it on Joe Duffy's Liveline today.

Gardaí said it will still take a number of days to formally identify the body from its dental records.

The search for Mr McCann has been called off.
