Compensation for personal injury claimants totals €118m

The total compensation awarded to personal injury claimants in the first six months of the year increased by 8.3% to €118m.

The total compensation awarded to personal injury claimants in the first six months of the year increased by 8.3% to €118m.

5,286 people were awarded compensation - up 2% on the same period last year.

Road traffic accidents continue to account for the majority of claims with the average award being almost €22,000.

The five counties with the largest number of awards were Limerick, Longford, Dublin, Louth and Carlow.

While Kilkenny, Roscommon, Laois, Wexford and Wicklow had the lowest.

The Injuries Board has also unveiled it's new app today which features an interactive claim estimator and information on how to access and navigate its public services.
