Fine Gael group resist party stance on Seanad referendum

The breakaway group of Fine Gael members, known as The Reform Alliance, is today calling for a NO vote in the Seanad referendum.

Lucinda Creighton said the group made the decision after a meeting in recent days.

They are now firmly at odds with Fine Gael and the Taoiseach's call for the Seanad to be abolished.

"We are a group of people who are really passionately committed to political reform, to reform of the whole system in Ireland, and it really would be bizarre for us not to take a position on this," she said.

"We all individually, basically have the same view so we decided to come together and state publically and advocate a No vote."
