Digital firms announce 50 new jobs
Fifty new jobs have been announced by the National Digital Research Centre.
The positions will be fill by the end of this year at NDRC-backed ventures across the country.
To date, Digital companies backed by NDRC have directly created 250 jobs between 2008 and 2012.
The Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte, also announced a further investment by his department of €17.5m in the NDRC.
The NDRC annual report for 2012-2013 shows the market capital value of ventures emerging from NDRC increased by more than 100% last year and is projected to reach €91m by the end of this year.
Mr Rabbitte said: "This Government remains staunchly committed to investing in Ireland's knowledge economy.
"It is essential for the country's recovery that home-grown ideas are nurtured to such point that they can flourish in their native environment and contribute to sustainable growth and this forms part of our action plan for jobs."
