Pensioner in critical condition following attack

Gardaí are investigating an attack on a pensioner in Dublin which has left him fighting for his life.

It is understood the 77-year-old man was stabbed in his own home on Beechpark Avenue in Coolock at around 10pm on Saturday night.

He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition this morning.

Investigations into the attack are continuing, but so far no arrests have been made.
