Ní Riada wins SF nomination for EU elections
Liadh Ní Riada has been selected as the Sinn Féin candidate to contest the next EU elections in the southern region.
The party held its convention to cover counties Kerry, Cork, Limerick Tipperary, Laois and Waterford along with Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow and Wexford in the Cahir House Hotel in Tipperary this morning.
Speaking after the selection of Ní Riada, party president Gerry Adams said: “It is a big ask, but a great honour to represent this party, given where we are, and given our potential for the future.”
Two candidates contested today's election for the Sinn Féin nomination - Ms Ní Riada and Chris O'Leary, both from Cork.
Sinn Féin will stand four candidates for the EU election.
