An East Belfast mural of George Best, which looked set to be replaced by a painting of a loyalist gunman, may now be saved.

The original George Best mural.

The George Best mural went up three years ago as part of an anti-sectarian initiative, but last week work got underway to replace it with the masked figure of a UVF gunman.

Local councillor John Kyle said that work is now on hold and that discussions with the people who were behind its changing are now underway.

It's proposed replacement.
