Second Kildare Labour Councillor leaves party
A second Labour Councillor in Co Kildare said he will be resigning from the party because it made promises that it knew it could not keep.
Damien Molyneaux, who has been a member of the party for ten years, will be formally tendering his resignation today.
Councillor Molyneaux, who sits on Newbridge Town Council, said he would like to see the establishment of a new political party that would not lie to the people just to get into power:.
"I would love if a new party was formed - a real party, that would really be a socialist party, and would listen to the people's views and make promises that they could keep… and not say stuff just for the sake of getting elected."
It follows the resignation from the Labour Party on Tuesday of sitting Athy Town Council Cathaoirleach, Councillor Thomas Redmond who has now joined Sinn Féin.
