Martin: 'Our political system is broken'
Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin is claiming next month's referendum on the abolition of the Seanad is becoming a defining moment for the political future of the country.
He made the comment at the Liam Lynch Commemoration in Fermoy Co Cork, where he claimed that "our political system is broken".
Mr Martin said the government has no interest in reform and claimed that if the Senate is abolished, Ireland will be left with a political system which is uniquely weak in the democratic world.
