Man dies after Clondalkin shooting

A man gunned down in a street attack late last night has died.

The man in his 30s was targeted on Cherrywood Drive, Clondalkin, west Dublin, at about 10.30pm.

He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries overnight.

Gardai said emergency services had tried to save the man’s life at the scene.

The area has been sealed off for a forensic examination and officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone who was in the Cherrywood Drive area of Clondalkin between 10pm and 10.45pm and saw any unusual or suspicious behaviour to contact them.

The gun murder is less than a week since the last fatal shooting, also in the Clondalkin area.

Dean Johnson, 21, was shot several times on the street as he walked through the Harelawn estate last weekend.
