Lotto winner rescued €258k ticket from her rubbish bin

A lucky Lotto winner found her €258,000 winning ticket at the bottom of her rubbish bin, the night before it was due to be emptied.

The woman from County Galway bought the lucky ticket while on holiday in Donegal and found it at the bottom of her bin, covered in onions, olive oil and garlic.

The single parent, who wishes to remain private, purchased her ticket from EuroSpar in Laghey.

She picked up her winnings at the National Lottery offices in Dublin today.
