Report: Eight out of 10 IT firms plan to recruit within three months

New research carried out by the Irish Software Association has found that 80% of technology firms in Ireland plan to hire new staff within the next three months.

However, the study of over 700 companies also reveals that almost half of them say they find it difficult to find employees with the necessary skills.

Director of the Irish Software Association Paul Sweetman has said many Government and industry initiatives have been put in place to overcome this problem.

Mr Sweetnam said: "There are a number of programmes underway at the moment, some of them are Government programmes, some are an industry intitiative as well.

"An example would be programme that was launched last week, the Cloud Clears programme, where we are taking in and people training them on industry certificates, and they will then get access to entry-level positions.

"So the companies are tailoring their positions in order to find the raw talent that's out there."
