Man finds War of Independence grenade while gardening
The Army bomb disposal squad has made safe a War of Independence-era grenade in Co Limerick.
The device was found by a man in Janesboro while he was gardening.
Explosives experts arrived on the scene at midnight and a number of nearby houses were evacuated.
The grenade was taken to a safe location where it was made safe by a controlled explosion on the device, which was identified as a Mills-type bomb.
