Tyrone family 'very concerned' about daughter in Peru

The family of an Irish woman, facing up to 25 years in prison in Peru, have said they are very concerned for her well-being.

20-year-old Michaella McCollum Connolly from Tyrone and a friend were arrested at Lima Airport on Tuesday on suspicion of trying to smuggle €1.7m worth of cocaine out of the country.

Michaella was reported missing by her family after not contacting them for 12 days from her home in Ibiza.

Michael Russell, Ireland's former honorary consul in Peru, said if found guilty the women could face a minimum of seven years in prison.
