Tullamore show opens in Co Offaly today

Ireland's biggest one-day agricultural event takes place in Co Offaly today.

Up to 60,000 are expected to attend the Tullamore Show which has over 600 trade stands, covering agriculture, fashion, energy, food and travel.

The National Livestock Show is the central feature of the event, and attendance of approximately 60,000 is expected.

The Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney will open the event later this afternoon.

Secretary Freda Kinnarney said the financial boost to the local economy from the show is in the region of €3m, from the accomodation and services sector, despite the large cost of running the show.
