USI: One-night stands article 'not acceptable'
The Union of Students in Ireland has today criticised the publication of an article about one-night stands.
CollegeTimes.ie said that it never intended to offend any of its readers by publishing the 'One Night Stand Guide For Him' article, which included a photograph of convicted rapist Josef Fritzl.
The article was deleted earlier this morning and the student website has apologised for its contents.
The President of the USI, Joe O'Connor, said that the organisation received a number of calls from distressed students today.
"It's not acceptable and it's not something we could ignore either," he said.
"The article itself contained a huge amount of offensive comment.
"I know a large number of readers and students were distressed by the content of the article and I suppose we're happy to see the fact that the reaction was so effective that College Times were forced to remove the article and to apologise for it."
