No more Page Three girls in Irish Sun
Topless Page Three girls are no longer being published in The Irish Sun newspaper.
The paper says it has phased out the traditional feature quietly over the past few weeks after feedback from readers.
The new editor of The Sun in Britain, David Dinsmore, recently said he intended to keep publishing topless pictures - despite murmurs from Rupert Murdoch that he was considering ditching the feature.
Paul Clarkson, editor of The Irish Sun, said it is simply a case of Irish readers wanting different things.
"Ireland ian't Britain," he said. "We like the same football teams, chocolate bars, TV shows - but we have different needs from a paper.
"Our own readers never really had a problem with Page Three, it's very tame compared to the likes of what you'd see in Jeremy Kyle's show in the morning on TV3, or in Heat magazine and so on.
"But it seems to be a bar for some people who would never pick up the paper and I want all the people who think The Irish Sun is not for them because of Page Three to have a chance to try it."
