Elderly female pedestrian killed in Tallaght road accident

Gardaí at Tallaght in Dublin are investigating a fatal road accident which occurred at 2.45pm this afternoon.

A 70-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a van on the N 81 Tallaght Bypass at the junction of the Old Bawn Road.

She was taken to Tallaght Hospital and then transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where she subsequently died this evening.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
