A substantial sum of money has been stolen during a robbery in Galway.

Bar owner tied up in robbery of substantial sum in Galway

A substantial sum of money, believed to be tens of thousands of euro, has been stolen during a robbery in Galway.

The cash was taken from a house on Eyre Street in the city centre at around 4am this morning.

A man, understood to be the owner of a nearby bar, was tied up by two men during the aggravated burglary.

It is understood he was not injured during the incident.

Gardai at Millstreet Station in Galway are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
