Results of post-mortems on Carlow brothers not to be made public

Postmortems have been carried out on the bodies of two young brothers who were reported missing from Carlow.

Eoghan and Ruairi Chada, aged 10 and 5, were found dead in a car that had crashed near Westport in Co Mayo yesterday.

Gardaí said that the results will not be made public for operational reasons.

The brothers were last seen leaving their home in Ballinkillen near Bagnaelstown in Co Carlow on Sunday evening with their father.

Officers are also waiting to question Sanjeev Chada - he is being treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Bagnaelstown parish priest, Father Declan Foley, said that the impact of the tragedy has deeply affected everyone.

"When a tragedy of this enormity hits you, it takes the heart out of everybody and the rest of the community are feeling it enormously and have been deeply impacted by it

"But nothing by comparison to what the family are going through at this time

"I happened to be there with the family when word came through and we were stunned into silence

"And the grief was immeasurable."
