Two airlifted off Croagh Patrick during annual pilgrimage
Two people were air-lifted to Mayo General Hospital today during the annual pilgrimage up Croagh Patrick.
Altogether there were 17 injuries over the day, which saw over 20,000 walkers attempt to climb the mountain.
One casualty, a woman in her 70s, received injuries to her head, while a man sustained a serious leg injury - both remain in hospital this evening.
The remaining injuries were dealt with on site, with most casualties making their own way to the base of the mountain.
